infrared sauna

An infrared sauna is a wooden cabin equipped with infrared heaters designed to improve the body's overall health and well-being, relieve stress, promote deep sleep and more. Infrared saunas offer similar benefits to traditional steam saunas, without the extreme heat. Proven health benefits from infrared saunas include relieving stress, relieving muscle and joint pain, improved circulation, and cleaning out skin pores.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF INFRARED SAUNA?

  1. Relieve stress

  2. Helps boost exercise benefits

  3. Improve the body's overall health and wellbeing

  4. Promote deep,restorative sleep

  5. Cleanses and hydrates skin

  6. Help maintain cardiovascular health

  7. Support muscle recovery after exercise

  8. Helps decrease discomfort in inflammatory and pain conditions

WHAT IS INFRARED?

Infrared is a safe wavelength of light (or energy) which we feel as heat. Infrared heat is all around us. You can feel it from sources like fire and heated sand on the beach. The largest source of infrared heat is the Sun. It is invisible infrared wavelengths that make the sun feel warm (ultraviolet UV wavelengths are what makes it bright). Just as visible light has a range of wavelengths, so does infrared light. The infrared spectrum consists of near (NIR), mid (MIR), and far (FIR) infrared waves, each with distinct characteristics and frequency ranges. Scientists have established that infrared waves are beneficial to the human body as they increase the thermal energy in the body.

WHAT DO INFRARED SAUNAS WORK?

Unlike a traditional sauna, infrared saunas don’t heat the air around you. Instead, they use infrared heaters to warm your body directly. These heaters use ceramic or carbon panels instead of conventional heat to emit infrared waves to easily penetrate human tissue and heat your body instead of the air. As your body absorbs the infrared heat, this increases thermal energy, inducing a deep and relaxing sweat. Because infrared heat waves penetrate more deeply than warmed air, you experience a more intense sweat at a lower temperature. In fact, infrared saunas usually operate between 46 to 57 degrees while traditional saunas can get up to 85 degrees or more.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN INFRARED SAUNA OR STEAM SAUNA?

The main difference between infrared saunas and traditional saunas is how they use heat. Traditional steam saunas use a single heater that heats the air and that hot air heats the user. In contrast, infrared saunas use advanced infrared heaters to warm your body directly. As your body absorbs the infrared heat, this increases thermal energy, inducing a deep and relaxing sweat. The infrared environment is cooler than traditional saunas, allowing you to stay in the sauna longer to enjoy the benefits.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY SERVICE?

During your first service, you will fill out the consultation form. This will be roughly be 5 minutes.. The actual service can take about 30 minutes - 45 minutes., depending on which option you have selected.

PREPARATION AND AFTERCARE

Preparation

  • Don’t use a sauna immediately after you’ve had a meal. When our bodies digest food, our system rushes blood to the stomach and digestive system. In a sauna, the heat causes blood to rush o the skin. This sudden change can make some people feel very dizzy and uncomfortable, especially if they’re elderly. If you can’t get around avoiding a meal before your session, don’t worry – just limit your food intake to lighter foods. You might want to avoid meat, pastries, heavier pasta dishes, and so on.

  • Drink plenty of water before your session to ensure you are hydrated

  • Dry body brush your skin to remove any impurities

Aftercare

  • Ensure that you stay hydrated after your infrared sauna session.

  • Relax and cool down, as you’re still going to sweat once the heat goes off, so just keep relaxing after you’ve finished your session.

  • Take a shower to remove toxins that are now outside of your skin.

  • Apply moisturiser after a shower

  • What is the Fibroblast/Plasma Pen treatment?
Fibroblast/Plasma Pen treatment is the only cosmetic treatment to use plasma to reduce the volume of excess skin. This treatment is low risk, has minimal downtime and more affordable than surgery. Fibroblast Treatment is known for it's success with Non Surgical Eye Lifts, Tummy Tightening, Neck Tightening and so much more.
  • Why does it have two names? Is fibroblast and plasma pen the same treatment?
This treatment has two different names in the beauty industry, however both of them are the same procedures and use the same machines. The treatment name 'fibroblast' derives from the fibroblast cells which are stimulated during this procedure. The other treatment name 'plasma pen' comes from the name of the machine which is used for this procedure.
  • What are fibroblast cells?
Fibroblasts are active cells in the dermis. Their function is to increase the productions of fibres, collagen and glycosaminoglycans. The number and productivity of fibroblasts decline with age. Their density gradually begins to decrease and fibroblasts in connective tissue rarely undergo division. Small injuries from plasma stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elevates elastin levels.
  • What does the plasma pen do?
The Plasma pen ionises gas in the air to create a small plasma flash. When the plasma touches the skin surface, the heat widens and is transferred into the epidermis all the way to the papillary layer which contains fibroblast cells. The skin then contracts and tightens, tones and lifts. Overall, this method activates healing, and this leads to the skin remodeling and improvement in various signs of aging
  • How many sessions do I need? How long do results last?
Results are immediate! So a single session is often all you need, as all clients see results post-treatment. However, follow up treatments can be performed after 8-12 weeks if needed. Results are expected to last 1 - 2 years. Results and the required sessions can vary each client, as it depends on the aging of the skin, its decrease in elasticity and how deep the wrinkle lines are.
  • What happens during the procedure? How long does it take?
During the procedure, you will discuss your desired treatment area. This consultation will be roughly 10-15 minutes, as you will also need to fill in the consultation from. Numbing cream will then be applied to the area and will be left on for 40 minutes. The actual treatment on the skin can take about 30 minutes-1.5 hours, depending on the size of the area and if more than one area is being treated.
  • Does it hurt? How long do the spots last?
It is similar to hair removal laser, where you will feel mild zaps (not as strong as hair removal though!). Numbing cream will be applied to minimise this feeling. The carbon crusts will show immediately and are expected to fall off from 3-5 days (can be up to 7). There is minimal downtime compared to other treatments/surgeries.
  • Who is an ideal client? Are there any limitations?
    - The client should be in good health at the time of the appointment, with no preexisting health conditions. If the client displays signs of cold or flu the treatment should be rescheduled. - This treatment is ONLY recommended on Fitzpatrick Scales 1-3.
