ABOUT DERMAPLANE TREATMENT

Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that consists of using a disposable scalpel to gently remove the layer of dull, dead skin cells and vellus hair in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY SERVICE?

Dermaplaning is a painless treatment that includes deep cleaning, professional exfoliation in the form of derma planing followed by skin care suited to your unique skin. Dermaplaning has a similar sensation to close a shave which removes vellus hair and dead skin cells simultaneously.

PREPARATION AND AFTERCARE

Preparation

Avoid waxing 7 days before and after this treatment.
Avoid topical products 24-48 hours before this treatment such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Salicylic Acid, or other anti-aging and acne products.
Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated.
A history of herpes or cold sores may require a course of anti-viral medication pre and post treatment.
You should wait 7 days after receiving Botox or Dermal Fillers to receive treatments.

Aftercare

Do not use heavy makeup for the first day.
Rinse skin gently (with water only) and pat dry/do not rub.
Use a gentle moisturiser and cleanser as needed.
Avoid sun exposure as much as possible for a minimum of 3 days post treatment. If you must be in the sun, apply SPF 30 or greater.
Avoid excessive heat (heavy workouts, steam room or saunas) for 1-2 days - increasing the body temperature can cause irritation (and possibly injury) to the fresh skin
Avoid chlorine for 24 hours.
Avoid any scrubs or products containing any exfoliating agents (retinoic acid, retinol, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, astringents, etc.).
You may resume the regular use of these products in 5-7 days.
Do apply serums as absorption levels will are increased. Use Hyaluronic Acid if skin is dry.
Dermaplaning can sometimes create scraping, nicking and/or abrading of the skin.
Do not pick, peel, scratch, or aggressively rub the treated area - you may tear the skin surface causing a wound (and preventing normal healing).
Light scabs may form in the treated area and remain for 24 to 48 hours.
Occasional stinging, itching, redness and/or dryness can occur during the first 24 hours.
A moisturiser or calming serum can be applied to alleviate the symptoms.

For Best Results

For optimum results, we recommend sessions every 4 weeks, as that is the cell and hair growth cycle. Maintenance treatments will be required to upkeep results.
